The "Gift of Tears"

Jesus Wept!

Yesterday, I wote about America (My Country 'Tis (Tears) of Thee, and how God's word spoke to the heart of man, during this season of rebellion and darkness in the earth. However, this morning, I was led to a daily meditaion for December 7, from "The Golden Book of Oswald Chambers. " And this time, instead of looking into the heart of man and his condition, I was led to look into the heart of God, according to His word, during times of suffering and sadness, and rebellion. My eyes landed on a phrase, the"gift of tears."Then my mind quickly shifted to the few times, that I had read about the tears of God. I remembered the scripture, "Jesus wept."in John 11:35. I referred to this in my book, (Love Leaps Forward, (Until Death Do We Part), as I reminisced about how I enjoyed my early years of morning devotion at school. The children all sang hymns, recited a scripture, pledged allegiance to the flag, and said the Lord's prayer in unison. "Gone are the days!"

Immediaterly, my heart was then saddened, at the thought of Jesus weeping over Jerusalem. I thought about Him drawing near to the city of Bethage and Bethany, at the mountain of Olivet (Like 19- 28-44). Then I thought again, about the Son of the living God, who came down from heaven to save us, saying "Repent Ye! For the kingdom of heaven is at hand." God must surely be weeeping over us, (America), just as He did for Jerusalem, in such a time as this. Weeping for a nation, whom He has blessed, and drew near to, and now she has drawn so faraway from Him. The disciple James wrote, "If we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us." James 4:8

I truly believe that Jesus Christ Son of the living God is waiting to gather His children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but we are not willing! (Matthew 23:37) God help us all!

As a nation, a people and an indvidual, I reemphasize Jesus'cry, "Repent!, and the words of Oswald Chambers, that states, "Examine yourself to see if you have forgotten how to be truly repentant.
